  19.         Hi all;
  20.         I just received the following in email from DPS.  It concerns the NT=
  21. =20
  22. version 2.0 drivers for the par.  When i loaded the new drivers over the=20
  23. weekend they would not start (i guess because i still had the beta version=
  24. =20
  25. drivers on my system - although not turned on). The tech support type told=
  26. =20
  27. me to follow the proceedure outlined below and then reinstall. He said that=
  28. =20
  29. it should be ok after that.  I also asked about still using the dos drivers=
  30. =20
  31. from time to time ( i use premiere under windows 3.1).  He said not to use=
  32. =20
  33. them. I asked how i would be able to use premiere with the par (since it=20
  34. runs under windows and uses the par2avi and avi2par codecs.  He said he=20
  35. didn't have an answer for that yet. So i guess i'll wait a little to upgrade=
  36. =20
  37. my premeire to nt version since i don't know how it will work with the par. =
  38. =20
  39. Anyway the procedure is below.  Good luck Nathan

  42. Preparation for installing the PAR NT 2.0 software:
  43.  
  44. 1.    Delete the following files from \winnt35\system32\drivers directory:
  45.  
  46.     par.hex
  47.     par_pal.hex
  48.     dpspar.sys
  49.  
  50. NOTE:  SOME OF THE FILES LISTED BELOW MAY NOT BE ON YOUR PARTICULAR SYSTEM.

  52. 2.    Delete the following files from \winnt35\system32:
  53. =09
  54.     parddr.dll
  55.     ctl3d32.dll
  56.     mfc30.dll
  57.     mfc40.dll
  58.     msvcrt20.dll
  59.     msvcrt40.dll
  60. =09
  61. 3.    Delete the following files from \winnt35:
  62.  
  63.     dpspar.ini
  64.  
  65. 4.    Delete the NT DPSPAR Registry entry by performing the following:
  66.  
  67.         =B7 Run REGEDT32  (From the Windows NT desktop select File then  Run=
  68. =20
  69. and         type REGEDT32.)
  70.         =B7 Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE edit window.
  71.         =B7 Delete=
  72.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/DPSPAR=20
  73.         folder.

  75. 5.    Restart the computer and make sure there are no device or driver start   =
  76. =20
  77.      failures - if there is a failure then double-check the previous steps  =
  78. =20
  79.       and try again.

  81. 6.    Install the latest release of the PAR software for Windows NT - it is    =
  82. =20
  83.     available from our BBS: (416) 754-8368, from our Internet Web Site:     =
  84. =20
  85.      www.dps-inc.com and from our internet FTP site: ftp.dps-inc.com.

  87. 7.    Restart the computer after finished installing PAR Software.

  89. 8.    Launch  PAR and select YES to install the driver.

  91. 9.    After the driver has been installed shut down Windows NT and power-off   =
  92. =20
  93.      your system for at least 10 seconds before restarting.
